Industrialised house in Barcelona currently under construction, designed entirely to measure for a family of four who were looking for a functional and spacious layout, designed to enjoy life in the outdoor areas.
The house is located on a plot of almost 1,500 m² and has a built area of 396 m² distributed over two floors. The large 75 m² covered porch is the clear highlight of this modular house’s design and was proposed by the inHAUS team based on the clients’ observed need for more space.
From the outset, the project has been marked by the clients’ involvement in the design process, undergoing several changes during the process. As development progressed, the clients clearly defined their needs and priorities, thus adapting the design of their future home.
On the ground floor, we find the living area, a kitchen separate from the living room next to a large pantry, a large open-plan living room creating separate areas, as well as an en-suite guest room, a study and a service room with a private bathroom. On the upper floor, there are three en-suite bedrooms with separate bathrooms, as well as a dressing room.
The house is completed with a separate gym, with independent access from the outside.

Outdoor spaces take centre stage
The large 75 m² covered porch is the key element of the project. It was not originally planned but was proposed by inHAUS after analysing the clients’ needs. This porch becomes a natural extension of the living room, providing more space and allowing life to continue outdoors.
For the clients, open-plan and outdoor spaces were the most important, as they envisioned their future home as a place for meeting and socialising with friends and family. Therefore, an open-plan living room (albeit with separate areas) was proposed, continuing outwards with large windows and the porch.
The project also includes a gym with independent access from outside the house, a fully equipped and private space within the plot itself.
A spacious and clearly functional layout
The ground floor houses the living area, designed as a large social space for sharing moments together. A spacious and open-plan living room with an L-shaped layout, creating different areas such as a cosy corner with a built-in fireplace and a smaller, more intimate room for watching television.
There is also a separate kitchen with ample storage space and a visual connection to the outside. The lower floor also has two en-suite bedrooms with private bathrooms (one for staff and one for guests), as well as a study.
The upper floor is reserved for family members, with three en-suite bedrooms and separate bathrooms for each.
Inside, the house stands out for its use of fine materials: natural stone on the walls and stairs, and wood in the common areas, creating a warm atmosphere.

As the project progressed, the design underwent changes. Initially, the programme included a basement garage, but after further analysis, it was decided to allocate that space to a complete service area, with its own bedroom and bathroom, with a view to the future and the possibility of having domestic help in the home.
The concept of a large, expansive porch that extended the living room’s daytime area was the element that defined the design. It was a solution that met the clients’ most important need: to be able to share the space and take advantage of the entire exterior.
Plan and layout

This house has a fairly compact O-shaped layout. The design is based on functionality and the clients’ intended use of the house. In total, the house has a large open-plan living room measuring 55 m², five en-suite bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, dressing room and toilet (one suite is for domestic staff and another is for guests). There is a 13 m² study located in the living room, which allows for more privacy when watching television, and a gym with separate access.
