Prefabricated house in Górliz

Modular housing in the Basque Country, near Bilbao, designed to blend in with its surroundings.

New project underway in Górliz, a municipality located in the Basque Country, very close to Bilbao. A natural environment with a very characteristic aesthetic.

The owners are a couple who currently live in China, and who wanted to build an ideal refuge to return to live in the north of Spain, near the coast of Vizcaya.

A compact prefabricated house that stands out for its large windows and dark materiality. Black porcelain that blends in with the aesthetics of its surroundings and the rest of the homes in the residential area.

A total of 220 m² distributed over ground floor and first floor, plus a basement of 75 m². Three floors linked by a sculptural staircase with a cantilevered step and triple height. A Japanese staircase whose back wall is lined with a veined ceramic cladding, which gives a sense of continuity between the three levels, visually connecting the whole house.Modular house in the Basque Country, near Bilbao, designed to blend in with its surroundings.

Prefabricated house in Górliz
Basque Country

Industrialised housing in the Basque Country

Both the exterior and the interior of the house are dominated by an oriental style due to the influences of the family, this is reflected in the dark colours and natural textures.

On the ground floor we find the day area, a diaphanous space as the aim is to create a functional space for the family to share moments together. The living room is completely glazed with flush windows that allow continuous views of the outdoor area and the swimming pool.

At the heart of this space is the sculptural Japanese staircase with cantilevered steps. This staircase connects the three levels of the house (basement, ground floor and first floor), visually and functionally connecting the whole house.

The kitchen is finished in a black tone, which combines with a black worktop with a golden veining.

On the first floor we find the sleeping area, with the master bedroom and the two bedrooms for the youngest members of the family. The master bedroom has a walk-in wardrobe in a black smoked glass cabinet that is fully fitted inside.

The two children’s bedrooms are connected by a large central bathroom, as well as having individual access to the terrace from each room.

In the rest of the rooms of the house we can see how the design elements stand out, such as the tiling, floor-to-ceiling doors and ceramic tiles that reflect pure contrast with the predominant materiality.

All the rooms of the house are strategically distributed so that the rooms enjoy the best views of the plot.

A design oriented to customer tastes

The house is oriented towards the best views of the plot in order to make the most of the land. The living room, which opens onto the dining room and kitchen, is fully glazed and the play of volumes and porches allows the shadows and light entering the house to be controlled. It is a house with a compact form and a completely dark materiality, an aesthetic similar to the houses in the area. A design oriented to the tastes of the clients.
