Chapter 7

2019 —

When dreams take centre stage.

“One of those ideas that only come when you are really passionate about what you do: What if instead of taking the next house directly to Mallorca, we made a stop before… in the middle of Valencia’s Town Hall Square? That’s how, in a perfect mix of madness, bravery and confidence, we decided to set up one of our homes in the heart of the city”.

When dreams take centre stage.

If there is one year that could be called ‘the most wonderful madness’ in our history, it was 2019.

It all started with a proposal that filled us with excitement but also uncertainty: the Open House Valencia team contacted us to be part of their festival, in which unique buildings in the city are opened to the public. Our initial response was enthusiastic, of course, but we were quickly faced with the question: how can we show our houses if they are already inhabited by our clients? And the factory… well, the factory is a sacred place. It’s where the magic happens, yes, but we also keep many secrets that we only share with those who really trust us. It was not an option to open it to the general public.

And suddenly, one of those ideas that only come up when you are really passionate about what you do: ‘What if instead of taking the next house directly to Mallorca, we make a stop before… in the middle of Valencia’s Town Hall Square?’ And so it was that, in a perfect blend of madness, bravery and confidence, we decided to set up one of our homes in the heart of the city, right in the place where the Falla del Ayuntamiento is planted every March.

After a thousand procedures, permits that arrived in extremis, and a lot of nerves  the kind that make you know you’re doing something big  one Thursday night we set up an inHAUS house in the middle of Valencia. At dawn, the surprised faces of the passers-by said it all. For two whole days, the whole city lived our house. Guided tours were organised, but the queues went on and on. At night, actors simulated daily life inside, with the lights on and the activity inside as if it were actually being lived in. It was a spectacle and a madness, a reflection of our philosophy: at inHAUS, when we believe in something, we make it happen.

And when the show was over, we loaded it back onto the trucks and took it to its final destination in Mallorca. A spectacular house full of memories that will always be part of our company’s history.

But 2019 did not stop there. It was also the year of awards. We received the PYME Innovadora award from La Razón, the Work Merit Award from the Asociación Europea de Economía y Competitividad (AEDEEC), the National Young Entrepreneur Award – Innovation Accésit from CEAJE, and the Architecture Design Trends Award. We attended events, we were publicly recognised and, above all, we began to internalise that all the effort that my brother and I, together with the whole team, had been making for years… was paying off. We felt honoured, proud and also more responsible than ever. Because when you know that you are building something valuable, you also know that you can’t stop.

And if there was one symbolic goal that we were particularly excited about, it was to become an international company. That dream began to materialise with our first project in France, a house in Nantes, which was a huge learning lesson. A pioneering, brave client, who trusted us when we still had no references outside Spain. The result was spectacular and the journey was intense, full of learning and challenges that made us grow. That’s how we are: curious, non-conformist, always wanting to do something more and better. This project was just that, a turning point and a new door open to the future.

And speaking of the future… At the end of 2019 we began to meet with other professionals in the sector. New ideas, unexpected collaborations and a shared ambition that was beginning to take shape. But that, my friends, is already next year’s story.

We continue.
