Cecotec and Almussafes Town Council have signed a cooperation agreement to support the development of one of Europe’s largest industrialised construction gigafactories. The proposed facility forms part of the strategic partnership between Cecotec and Casas inHAUS, aimed at taking the industrialised manufacturing of homes and buildings to a new scale of production.
The new facility is planned for industrial land adjacent to the Juan Carlos I industrial estate, within the ZND-IN1 industrial sector included in the revised General Urban Development Plan (PGOU) for Almussafes. Casas inHAUS already operates its facilities for the construction of high-end modular homes in this municipality.
The location has been selected for its strategic position within the Valencian industrial landscape. Its road and rail connections, proximity to the Port of Valencia and the Mediterranean Corridor, together with its established industrial heritage linked to the automotive sector, provide a favourable environment for a project of this scale.
The signing of the agreement marks another step towards the future development of the gigafactory, which remains subject to the relevant planning and administrative procedures.
The new facility aims to bring the automation, robotics and digitalisation processes used in advanced manufacturing into residential construction, significantly increasing the production capacity for industrialised homes and buildings.
The gigafactory is projected to achieve an annual production capacity of up to 500,000 m² of industrialised construction, equivalent to approximately 6,000 homes. Using a Level 6 industrialised construction system, 95% of the home or building is manufactured in the factory before being transported to site and assembled.
This industrialised construction process makes it possible to reduce production timescales through reliable project scheduling and integrated project management with a single point of contact.
These advantages help increase development profitability and internal rate of return (IRR) while reducing financial risks.
The proposed gigafactory brings together Casas inHAUS’s expertise in architecture, engineering and 3D volumetric modular construction with Cecotec’s knowledge of automation, digitalisation and large-scale industrial process optimisation.
The construction system developed by inHAUS, based on the off-site manufacturing of three-dimensional steel and concrete modules, provides the technological and construction foundation for this new production model.
The partnership aims to expand the system’s industrial production capacity while maintaining the standards of architectural quality, design and construction control that characterise Casas inHAUS homes and projects.
The proposed gigafactory will be designed to meet the needs of property developers, investors, architectural practices and other construction industry professionals.
